Import KinoTickets Online films into Theater for WordPress

In this guide, you will connect your WordPress website to KinoTickets Online. Next, you will sync your films with the Theater for WordPress plugin. When completed, you will have a website for your cinema with an always up-to-date overview of your films, including full descriptions, images, start times and ticket prices.

Prerequisites

  1. Make sure you have a working WordPress website.
  2. Ask MARS EDV to setup the ‘Programm-XML-Export’ inside ProWin.

Step 1 – Install Theater for WordPress

  1. Go to PluginsAdd new in the WordPress admin.
  2. Look for ‘theater for wordpress’.
  3. Install and activate Theater for WordPress plugin.

You now have a new Theater menu-item in the WordPress admin:

Step 2 – Install Jeero

  1. Go to Plugins → Add new in the WordPress admin.
  2. Look for ‘jeero’.

  3. Install and activate the Jeero plugin.

Step 3 – Start the sync

  1. Go to Jeero in the WordPress admin.
  2. Select KinoTickets Online in the Ticketing solution field:

  3. Click on Save Changes.

  4. Enter the URL of your KinoTickets Online Programm-XML-Export file:

  5. Click on Save Changes.

  6. Click on the Theater for WordPress tab.

  7. Tick the Enable Theater for WordPress import checkbox:

  8. Click on Save Changes.

The sync is now active. Your films will be visible in Theater for WordPress within 5 minutes:

Step 4 – Show your events on your website

You can show your upcoming films on a page.

  1. Go to Pages → Add new.
  2. Give your page a title (eg. ‘Upcoming events’).
  3. Click on Publish.
  4. Go to Theater → Settings → Display.
  5. Set Page to show upcoming events on to the page that you just created.
  6. Set Position on page to show above content.
  7. Click on Save Changes.
  8. Go to Theater → Settings → Style.
  9. Check Enable built-in Theater stylesheet.
  10. Click on Save Changes.
